Experiment: Memory 1

Damn, today is blogging madness… I think it’s going to be time soon to explain why I am posting all of this crap on here so that you, my faithful readers (most likely qty: 2) will not think of me as a pretentious prick.

Purpose of the experiment: establish state of memory, devise a way to track memory state.

Overview: as far as I understand there are two types of memory – voluntary and involuntary. They are related, and, for lack of knowledge of the subject, I must treat them as one – involuntary. Involuntary memory allows memorization via procedure (attach by association) or direct storage (photo). Both should have been extensively studied by now, so I am re-inventing the wheel due to inability to find the research + to excercise my own abilities.

3 cases each
3 time attempting to memorize
record 1/0 – successful or not

3, 7, 10 numbers

34 95 86 – 1
73 40 97 – 1
20 34 58 – 1

72 04 39 68 52 34 09 – 0
98 56 31 49 68 68 73 – 0
40 73 40 95 68 72 39 – 0

34 67 03 94 87 61 20 34 58 69 – 0
34 06 32 84 56 02 98 43 75 23 – 0
49 87 52 89 74 56 92 18 35 70 – 0

Suggested modification – create a string of number, follow Simon says to gradually increase the number and the size of numbers that can be memorized. Record the number memorized. This would allow for a more gradual progression.

Idea: integrate blogs with http://home.nikitab.com and other such sites to allow easy inclusion of cross-references… the more I look at this stuff, the more in the stone age of info-tech I feel… grrrr…
